Aprox: 10:00 a.m. – Surgery Update #1: Dad’s left eye has been removed and the surgery went better than expected! Though it will likely require some additional plastic surgery, the surgeon thinks that Dad will be able to be fit with a glass eye in the future. Hallelujah! In other good news, the tumor was self-contained within the eye so ALL of it was removed with his eye. Surgery Part 2 to remove the acoustic neuroma is taking place now. This part is much more technical than the first. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers and more updates to come in 3 hours or less (we hope!). THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Hal’s second surgery was a success. It took longer than expected, though, as there was a little more work needed. He is taking sips of water and waiting for the morphine to arrive. He is in ICU for the night. He, our children and I are so grateful for your prayers and support. Barb

On Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 7:00 PM Elise received her Registered Nurse pin at a ceremony at Lourdes University in Toledo, Ohio. Her Aunt Beth, a Registered Nurse for many years, now retired had the honor of pinning Elise. Elise follows a tradition established by her grandmother Betty, followed by her Aunt Beth, and now Elise. Another Aunt, Mary Jean is also a Nurse Practitioner in Toledo and teaches at Lourdes University and Elise's Aunt Karen is also a nurse in Findlay. All of the family is very proud of Elise and her continuation of the Nurse tradition.
