Tales!

This guy goes into his barber, and he's all excited. He says, "I'm going to go to Rome. I'm flying on

Alitalia and staying at the Rome Hilton, and I'm going to see the Pope." The barber says, "Ha! Alitalia is a

terrible airline, the Rome Hilton is a dump, and when you see the Pope, you'll probably be standing in back of

about ten thousand people."

So the guy goes to Rome and comes back and the barber says, "How was it?"

"Great," he says, "Alitalia was a wonderful airline. The Rome Hilton Hotel was great. And I got to meet the

Pope."

"You met the Pope?" said the barber.

"I bent down to kiss the Pope's ring."

"And what did he say?"

The Pope said, "Where did you get that crummy Haircut?"

Hal

Easter 1954 - Alma, Ernest, Hal, & Marie

Note:  Hal arrived home from the hospital on Thursday afternoon.   GPZ

—————————————–

Hal is Home!

Hal’s days of being pampered are over, as Nurse Ratched has arrived!  This morning he poured his own cereal, buttered & jellied his own toast, carried his plate and bowl to the sink and rinsed them.  He has showered, shaved, and walked his laps around the house.  Clap!  Clap!  Clap!

Hal stayed awake all day yesterday, which is what the drs wanted.  Last night was the best night of sleep yet, so today we will keep him movin’ and groovin’.

We have cheated on the drs’ orders, though:  Cora sat in Grandpa’s  lap for a few minutes.  Either Erin or I are right next to them, should Cora decide to make a sudden move.  Baby Therapy is the best!  Second best is giving Erin a hug today, as this is her 35th birthday.

We continue to be so humbled and blessed by your outpouring of love.  Thank you all so very much!

Aprox: 10:00 a.m. – Surgery Update #1: Dad’s left eye has been removed and the surgery went better than expected! Though it will likely require some additional plastic surgery, the surgeon thinks that Dad will be able to be fit with a glass eye in the future. Hallelujah! In other good news, the tumor was self-contained within the eye so ALL of it was removed with his eye. Surgery Part 2 to remove the acoustic neuroma is taking place now. This part is much more technical than the first. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers and more updates to come in 3 hours or less (we hope!). THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Erin

Hal’s second surgery was a success.  It took longer than expected, though, as there was a little more work needed.  He is taking sips of water and waiting for the morphine to arrive.  He is in ICU for the night.  He, our children and I are so grateful for your prayers and support.  Barb
